I'm just gonna call Sony tomorrow and see what they say, and update you guys for future - Yeah, I was thinking privacy issues as well, but when it comes to criminal activity pertaining to something (the PS3) the people who stole it do not own.their privacy goes out the window.
My sis still has the box, so we have the serial number. Every piece of hardware has its own unique digital I.D., I'm just not sure what it is, and you may be right about the serial number only being unique to the unit and the box. No need to apologize to me, I still have my PS3. They live across the street from a middle school, so I'm sure it was one or two of the kids there. It would be a matter of probably having the police contact Sony.but then, is it even worth it for a replaceable object? If anything, I would love to catch these little bastards just to teach them a lesson. So I was thinking, when you sign up for a PSN account, wouldn't the PS3 send out information about the system like serial number and stuff? If so, wouldn't Sony be able to track a PS3 by serial number and provide the location it is being used? Or if the person created their own account and were actually stupid enough to use their real address?Īny thoughts on what I could do here? Thanks dudes. So I logged into their PSN account and changed the email, password.and deleted all information of theirs that happened to be on the PS3, just to make them feel better. They didn't take anything but kid stuff.and left the 50 inch flat scree, surround sound, receiver, etc. So it was obviously a couple kids who were in and out real quick. So my sisters house was broken into yesterday when everyone was gone, and they stole the PS3, Wii, DS and pretty much all my nephews little trinkets like Ipods, and tech decks.
